Glen Luckman Describes Roles in Writing Comic Books

There are many people involved in comic book production. Without each person’s role, a comic book wouldn’t be available to read. Writing comics is like the chain of life; without the writer or artist a comic couldn’t be created. The different roles involved in production are: writer, artist, inker colorist, letterer, editor, and editor in chief. Each role is an important aspect which allows readers to have and collect great comics.

The writer creates the story for a comic book. They write the script which allows the story to emerge. To take on this role, you have to be very creative. This is the starting position of a great comic. Writing comics makes you think and write in different ways. The writing has to communicate visually with words, be emotional, and create action and adventure. Writing comics is similar to writing scripts. There is dialogue between the characters, setting up the story, and moving the plot from beginning, middle, and end.

After the comic story is written; the artist, inker, and colorist work together to illustrate the comic. The artist then comes in and illustrates what is happening during the plot. The artist usually draws the comics in pencil. This role is also creative and requires a lot of talent and art skills. This role is perfect for someone who is a great artist and loves design. The pictures are first drawn in pencil because after a page is drawn, it can be sent to the inker. Splitting the drawing roles between an artist and an inker makes for faster production of a comic book. After the artist draws in pencil, the pictures are passed on to the inker. The inker goes over the artist’s work in ink and makes the pictures stand out. The inker uses either a black pen or black brush to go over the pencil marks. Inking the drawings makes the comic look more professional and sleek. After the initial drawing is complete, the colorist colors the writer’s and inker’s work. This is done either by hand or with computer software. The colorist really makes the art come to life. They create specifically how the character will look, what colors will be used, and add effects to the pages such as shading.

Once the drawing is done, the comic is passed off to the letterer. This role is in charge of putting words in the right places and adding sound effects. They make sure the reader is easily able to follow the story. This role is creative and also requires a strong knowledge of grammar. Letterers’ work is most often seen in the balloons of comics.

After the final touches of the comics are done and the pictures and words are complete, the editor looks over the comic for errors. They also help with the creative team and give guidance to the creation team. They make sure that everyone is working in the same direction and know the concept of the comic being produced. The man in charge, the boss, is the editor in chief. He oversees all production and makes sure everyone is happy doing the work.

When you plan an event that entails providing valuable information intended to inspire creative thought and motivate the audience, you want to make sure that you capture and maintain the viewers’ attention. For this reason, the role of a keynote speaker becomes a vital tool to an event’s success.

The keynote speaker is essential to delivering the right message. They provide motivational speeches for graduates, businesses, charities, and other groups. When the audience arrives and are seated, they are not usually focused. To capture their attention and keep them engaged throughout the event, they must be drawn in and inspired to learn. This is the job of the keynote speaker. A great speaker sets the right tone for the event and will engage the audience from the beginning of the event to the end.

A keynote speaker will usually start the proceedings for a particular function. He or she will deliver a speech that captivates the audience and gets them ready and willing to learn. The speaker will sign a contract so make sure you determine such aspects as the length of the speech, the time in which they should arrive, and any extra work you may want the speaker to do while at the event. You should also consider how much you want to pay the speaker. Prices can vary so keep your budget in mind when hiring a speaker.

To keep the audience engaged, the keynote speaker should provide a number of anecdotes that can involve humor, depending on the organisation. They should be able to provide details showing that what they are speaking about is relevant to the company or organisation. The speaker should also be able to incorporate his or own life’s education and experience into the presentation. You should talk to the other organizers of the event to determine what they expect from the event. If you are holding a conference that will have a number of speakers, the keynote speaker should be able tie all of the topics together as one or more common themes. Corporate speakers should have a good understanding of the company’s vision and mission and be able to fit the presentation with current issues in the corporate world. The speaker should also be high profile and well known in the community. For instance, Donald Trump is a popular business speaker.

How to Use Persuasion Techniques to Turn a No Into a Yes

Everyone I know would like to get their way every time, but the reality of the situation is you don’t always get your way. You could have the best intentions but people are still reluctant to take you up on your plan, buy products from you or go on a date with you. This is a very frustrating process, however knowing persuasive techniques can solve this problem. When you have a conversation with someone and you ask them a questions such as “Do you want to go to the movies tonight?” And they reply with “No” most people simply dismiss the idea and a sense of disappointment overcomes them. In this article I will teach you how to apply a persuasive technique in order to turn a no into a yes.

By asking probing questions we can find out the reasons why the person said “no” and work out a compromise plan so that both parties can benefit. Next time a person says “no” to your idea/proposal ask him one of these questions.

Ask them why and deal with each objection or concern in turn

Asking why demonstrates a genuine concern for the other person and gives you a chance to listen as they give you the reasons why they said “no.” As a result you can work around these reasons and give a reply that is suited more to the needs of the person you are trying to persuade By using this persuasive technique your chances of turning a “no” into a “yes” increase greatly.

Ask them what you can do for them to say “yes” to you

This is a simple and often overlooked question. When people try to act in a persuasive way than list all the benefits that they think will benefit the group however different people have different needs and by asking them what it will take for them to say “yes,” you show a genuine concern and a sense of going the extra mile on your relationship to make the person more comfortable and trust worthy of you.

Despite having good intentions miscommunication happen consistently and we feel frustrated and angry despite our good intentions. What’s worse is what people are saying behind our back without us knowing. Practice the above two techniques and watch your persuasive power increase.

English Speech - How to Use Key Words When You Speak?

Whether you have English as a second language or are a native speaker trying to improve your skills, putting the stress on key words is an important aspect of speaking that not enough people are doing well. As you work towards improving your verbal communication, make sure you spend sufficient time practicing the act of accentuating the important parts of your conversation.

What Are Key Words?
Key words are the important parts of your message. If the person you’re talking to hears nothing else but the keywords, they’ll still have a pretty good idea of what you were talking about. As such, think of key words as those specific terms and phrases that are the most vital to what you’re communicating. They not only give you as a speaker a thin red line in your speech, but also help the listener by grabbing attention.

Newscasters

Watch newscasters on TV and pay attention to those times when their tonality and enunciation changes. If they’re good, you’ll notice them do it every time they’re uttering an important key word in the piece. If you use a language learning software or an audiobook, launch it and listen to the sample conversations. Nine times out of ten, you’ll notice the same thing - they’re stressing the key words in their sentences.

Breaking Monotony

Stressing your key words help break the monotony of your communication, apart from making your conversation style more engaging.
